Battle Field Ban Huay Kone Memorial

In the past, Ban Huay Kone was the operation base for 3 rd Infantry Battalion that has been maintained for the next generations. The area includes sap, bomb trace, arsenal, and the places where Thai soldiers were killed. In adjacent, "Base of Courage", the base of the soldiers at Ban Huay Kone, Huay Kone sub-district, was the battle field at that time. In April 9, 1975 Communist Terrorists attacked the base and caused the injury of 21 st Infantry Battalion (Royal Guard), 17 died while Communist Terrorists were full of deaths casualties. Thai sol- diers could protect this base and it has been developed to be tourism destination as a historical memorial of the battle be- tween different leading policies.

Huay Kone Border Check Point

Located in Ban Huay Kone about 138 kilometres. away from the district town. The border market opens every Saturday selling tradi- tional Thai Lue๛s weaving fab- ric and their silverware. Right now only Thai people can cross this border to Laos but it is being developed to be the gateway to Khunming, Chiang Rung, and Vietnam.

Wang Pian Waterfall

11 kilometres. from Chalerm Phrakiat district town, this waterfall is only accessible by foot from Highway No. 1081. The 4 kilometres. walk is worth the scenery of this big, several tiers waterfall that has water all year round and is surrounded by virgin forest.
